Well Apple won’t be coming out with an iMom, but they are stepping up and answering the challenge for one of their largest group of users…mothers. Fast company just yesterday noted that mothers with children between infancy to age 17 make almost a third of Apple’s customer base. Of those users 59% of the mothers share their iPhone with their children. They download games and entertainment applications (’Apps’) for their children. These tech savvy moms are also using their iPhones and iTouch products for tracking breastfeeding and nappy changes using applications like “Baby Tracker: Nursing” and “Baby Tracker: Diapers” by Anddesigned. These ‘Apps’ help record frequency, duration and even offer predictions of the next feed or changing time.
For those moms with an older child there are ‘Apps’ like “Teen Tracker“ and “iCurfew“ to help during the rebellious teenage years. These applications offer GPS location from his or her phone to a parent’s email. Although this may shake the tree of trust with your child, it may also become a lifesaving tool in circumstances of a broke down car in the late hours of the evening.
If the iPhone seems a bit much out of your price range and your happy with your current mobile phone, perhaps the iTouch may suit you more. Almost all the ‘Apps’ available for the iPhone also are available for the iTouch.
